Work Tracking

Work on Proxima Console is tracked in Jira project PXC. Code lives in GitLab (gitlab.prxm.uz/proxima/console). The card key (PXC-123) joins the two: it goes in the branch name, every commit and the merge request title.

The full rules are in docs/standards/work-tracking.md in the repository. This page is the short version.

note

Until 2026-10-08 the backlog lived in GitLab issues. Every open issue was moved to a PXC card and closed with a "Moved to PXC-n" comment, so older commits and MRs that say #N refer to GitLab issues.

The card comes first

Before a spec, a branch or a commit, find the card for your work, or create it, and move it to In Progress. Anything you find along the way (a bug, a follow-up, a verification gap) gets its own card the same day.

Issue types

TypeUse it forTemplate
EpicA long-lived feature area of one product, named Product: Feature (e.g. "On-call: Voice paging")One sentence on what belongs in it
StoryA new capability for a userAs a / I want / so that, then acceptance criteria
BugSomething broken for users in production nowSteps to reproduce / Expected / Actual / Impact / Done when
TaskEverything else: verification, tests, ops, decisions, refactorsWhat and why / Done when
Sub-taskSplitting a card too big for one person in a few days—

"Never tested" is a Task, not a Bug. Every Story, Bug and Task has a parent epic.

Fields

  • Component: exactly one, the product whose code changes (On-call, Clusters, Agent, …).
  • Priority: Highest (harm happening now), High (harm soon, or blocks a release), Medium (real but contained), Low (nice to fix).
  • Fix version: the release it ships in (v0.9.0, …), set when the card moves to To Do.
  • Links: every Bug relates to the Stories and Tasks it touches; use "is blocked by" for real blockers, together with the flag.

Board

ColumnLimitMeans
Backlog—Triaged, not committed
To Do9Next up, with a fix version
In Progress4Someone is working on it now
Review3MR open, or a result waiting to be checked
Done—Merged, deployed, and every Done-when item is true. Canceled cards land here too.

Highest-priority cards sit in the Expedite lane and are worked first. Blocked is a flag, not a column. When In Progress is full, review or unblock before you start something new.

Branches, commits and merge requests

WhatFormatExample
BranchPXC-<n>-<short-name>PXC-15-suppressed-responder
Commitconventional commit + keyfeat(oncall): record would-be responder [PXC-15]
MR titlePXC-<n>: <what>PXC-15: record who would have been paged

Move the card to Review when the MR opens and to Done once it is merged, deployed and checked.
